Why Online? | ||||||||||
Three reasons. First, many of our friends and relatives do not live
locally. Second, Babies"R"Us can be really expensive, so we
don't want people to feel limited to shopping there (although much of our registry
can be found there, if you really like BRU). Third, we spent hours and hours researching baby products,
and the choices we made based on that research cannot all be found at one store.
We didn't put all the smaller things (like clothes, books, toiletries, and toys) on the registry because we thought you'd like the chance to pick them out yourself — not because we only want the big things! The biggest thing we'll need that isn't on the registry is our cloth diapers — please click here! We're also saving money toward a glider rocker, since Hilary will be breastfeeding all of our children, starting with this one. If you buy the item online using the link, the registry will give you the option of labeling the item as "reserved" (purchased). That's how everyone else will know not to buy the same thing you did.

We have decided to cloth diaper our baby. Before you think we're crazy or wonder why we'd want to swish
diapers in the toilet or wrestle with safety pins, let me tell you: cloth diapers have come a long way! With the invention
of Velcro, stain-resistant fabrics, and other innovations, cloth diapering is easier and cleaner than ever before!
The brand we'll be using is called Motherease. We'll be using XSmall Sandy's™ diapers while the baby is small, and One Size™ diapers for the remainder of the diapering period. We also registered with Motherease, so you can give the gift of cloth diapers (and please do)! Their registry is by telephone only: 1-800-416-1475 Monday-Friday, 9:00-4:30 EST Tell them it is for "Hilary Fiskeaux's" registry This allows us to get what we need and only pay shipping once! If you wonder what we'll be needing, here's the low-down: Newborns use about 12 diapers a day, requiring at least 24 on hand. You need about half as many liners as you have diapers. Liners go inside the diapers. You need about 3-4 of each size cover. Covers go outside the diapers. XSmall Sandy's™ require XSmall Air Flow™ Snap covers. One Size™ require Snap In Liners™ and Air Flow™ Snap covers. Click here to see what these products cost! Finally, if you still think we're nut-jobs, just read these: How Cloth Diapering Saves $$$ (not just the environment) Why Cloth At All?

Anywhere you want!
Our online registry allows you to see our "wants and needs" list while allowing you to shop around. There is a website link for each product we put on the registry, and we tried to make the links lead to the sites that give the best prices. You can also shop in any real store you want! All you have to do is go to the online registry and click "Offline Reservation" for the item you purchased. Then everyone else who views the registry will know it's been taken! Of course, you are welcome to print the list (or just the info for the item you want) to take with you when you shop. Here are some good coupon sites, if you'd like to shop online: DotDeals' "Kids & Toys" section Flamingo World CurrentCodes.com DealTime's "Kids & Family" section Froogle (a comparison site — type in what you're looking for and it'll give you prices from different sites) Baby Universe (an online discounter) Baby Catalog (an online discounter)

The Basics | ||||||||||
The baby is a boy.
The nursery theme is garden/bugs/insects (coincidentally, so is this page). Hilary is allergic to lanolin and highly sensitive to scents, so she does not use lotions/creams, candles, or scented products (bath, air, etc.).

We strongly prefer clothes without sports imagery.
Charlie has an inexplicable aversion to sailboats on baby clothes. At 0-3 months, it will be August, September, and October. At 3-6 months, it will be November, December, and January. At 6-9 months, it will be February, March, and April. At 9-12 months, it will be May, June, and July.

We've spent countless hours painstakingly researching baby products, in person and
through experts' books and websites. Everything on our registry was chosen with meticulous care. Many of the
things considered "essentials" (like clothes, nail clippers, etc.) aren't on there because we thought it
would only be polite to be so very particular about the things that were truly important to us. Please feel free to use your own judgement
to choose all the other things for our little one!
...and there's always our cloth diapers and the glider rocker fund! If you have any questions or frustrations after going to the actual registry, please come back to this page to find answers!
